History of Photography.
The word "Photography" is based on the Greek word photo meaning "light", and graph meaning "drawing", so when put together they meaning "drawing with light”.
The Camera Obscuras was one of the first cameras, but the first real permanent photograph was taken years after. In 1825 a French inventor Joseph Niepce took the first permanent photo that we know of. But it took many years to figure out all the technical issues of getting a photograph to stay permanently. Professor
J. Schulze started the way to Niepces photos, because he was the one that accidently created a photo-sensitive compound. (Mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver in a flask) Many years after J. Schulz’s sensitive compound lead to Thomas Wedgwoods making of “sun pictures”. The problem with this was that under any light stronger than candle light the photo would deteriorate rapidly. Joseph Niepce then created permanent photograph by combining the camera Obscura with photosensitive paper and that is how he created a permanent photograph.

One of Joseph Niepces problems was that the exposer had to last eight hours. This meant that the sun had enough time to move from of the east to the west, so photos would have had the sun shining on both sides of the photo. Joseph Niepce and Louis Daguerre where both working on reducing the exposure time when Joseph Niepce died. But after several years Louis Daguerre developed the daguerreotype. The daguerreotypes exposure times where from three to fifteen minutes. This made the camera much more useful and easy work with.
